Personal Injury Law

What is Personal Injury Law?

If a person suffers a physical or mental injury as the result of the negligence of another person or organisation, they may be entitled to claim compensation through a personal injury claim.

Personal injuries can arise in a number of situations including in the workforce and motor vehicle accidents.

In general, claims for damages arising out of an injury must be commenced within a three-year period. While personal injury claims are not always simple, majority of claims do settle without the need to commence formal litigation.

If you have suffered an injury at the fault of another, contact Munro Legal to discuss your options.

Historical Institutional Abuse

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse produced a number of findings and recommendations related to experiences of people affected by child sex abuse in an institutional context. Part of these reforms allowed for survivors of child sexual abuse to make a claim regardless of how long ago the abuse occurred.

Victims can make a claim through the National Redress Scheme or through common law.

At Munro Legal, we assist clients in bringing a complaint against an institution so that they can achieve justice and find closure. We understand that that this period can be difficult, and we aim to be compassionate and support our clients through these difficult times. We work with a number of clients who have experienced both physical, emotional and sexual abuse as children in institutions throughout Queensland, New South Wales and other States in Australia. We appreciate that many of our clients struggle with authorities and the judicial system, accordingly, our aim is to finalise any compensation claims outside of court with a therapeutic approach.

We take a “No win, no fee” approach. This means, you will not be liable to pay for the work we do until we reach a settlement.
